Promoting Healing and Preventing Violence, One Workshop at a Time
Fear For Breakfast is a nonprofit organization that provides in-prison and community-based programs centered on healing and personal development.
Our Mission:
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, each year, more than 600,000 individuals are released from state and federal prisons, and more than 2/3rds of prisoners are rearrested within 3 years of their release and half are re-incarcerated.
Fear For Breakfast is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led by formerly incarcerated individuals and dedicated advocates, aiming to end the cycle of criminal behavior by fostering healing through in-prison and community-based programs centered on healing and personal development. We provide workshops on self-awareness, identity, mindset, life skills, victim impact, trauma recovery, and more, led by both the formerly incarcerated and working professionals in the field.
Fear For Breakfast also offer internship opportunities, mentorship, and counseling support for the reentry population, ultimately working to reduce recidivism and promote a lasting positive change within the community of Greater Los Angeles.
By engaging with our community in a positive and constructive way, we hope to promote the powerful idea that we have more in common than we have apart.

Our Core Values:
Love, Compassion, Empathy, and Kindness.
Creating a Path for Lasting Change in 5 Steps:
Step 1: In-Prison Program
Fear For Breakfast partners with the California State Prison, Los Angeles County to run the Life Transformation Workshop for the currently incarcerated individuals.
The workshop helps people inside better themselves and learn about how they can be successful as returning citizens upon release.
Step 2: Community-Based Reentry Program
Our reentry program aims to help those coming out of prison successfully reintegrate into community by providing them with immediate post-release support.
Fear For Breakfast provides ongoing case management and Victim Impact workshops to provide a healing dialogue between those who have been to prison and the community.
Step 3: Healing & Personal Development Workshops
Fear For Breakfast provides a range of comprehensive services that empower formerly incarcerated individuals, their partners and family members, and the broader community to achieve stability, security, and a healthy way of life.
Step 4: Internship & Job Training
Fear For Breakfast, in partnership with the California Lawyer for Arts, host interns to provide them with paid work experience and mentorship.
Our internship program is to help the formerly incarcerated gain valuable career skills and become more self-sufficient and financially stable.
Step 5: Giving Back to the Community
We engage in various community service activities such as:
Feeding the homeless
Wound care for the hurting
Volunteering as a facilitator in workshops
